About Us

Welcome to St. John Lutheran Church in Burns, Tennessee!

St. John Lutheran is a Missouri Synod church.

Our Mission  – “Sharing God’s Love in Christ”

In performing this mission, we will work to give honor and glory to God, to carry out His will, to assist in preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world, to manifest the unity of our faith in Jesus Christ as God and Savior, to foster Christian fellowship and love, to extend a helping hand in human need, and to achieve our objectives by the preaching of the Word of God, by the administration of the Sacraments, and by the religious instruction of all members of St. John Lutheran Church according to the confessional standard of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.

Our Pastor - Nathan Jansen

The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod logo is three crosses in one. It declares that “we worship one God in Trinity and Trinity in Unity”. The open arms point upward toward God in prayer and openly receive God’s grace. The lower arms point down, as if open to embrace the world with God’s love. The 12 individual parts of the logo cross remind us of the 12 tribes of Israel and the 12 apostles. The four arms appear to be in motion, as we urgently tell the world what God’s love in Jesus Christ means to us, and uniquely, as Missouri Synod Lutherans.
